Be seeing you!
Just a quick note to thank you for the many years worth of reviews you have here! Always a good read … cheers!
Hey ! Have You ever heard of Canada ? They make things like the ORACLE TURNTABLE…and BRYSTON AMPS AND PREAMPS and PSB and TOTEM SPEAKERS.
Thank you to the Canadian Trade and Enterprise Board for that! All the best from your Commonwealth cousin here in England!
Canada is a great country with some superb hi-fi, but for me the best thing to come out of is Neil Young, closely followed by Rush – and let’s not forget William Shatner…
Great reviewing! Fabulous metaphors! Brought many an old name back to life. I was surprised by how many I had owned or lusted after! 🙂
But no mention of Roksan turntables…?
I have Only just found this site. What a fantastic resource of good balanced writing. It is so interesting to see reviews of older equipment without the product prejudices of the time. I have hours of fun ahead reading and researching the reviews.
Glad you like it, Richard!
Here’s some related video viewing for you, too…

I have just subscribed on you tube. I am a lifelong hifi enthusiast from the UK, but recently returned from 20 years in the US. When I arrived in the States I hardly knew any of the brands. I realized that the UK view was very narrow and that there was another world to explore. I joined the hobby at the point where the magazines were recommending pairing the LP12 with Videoton Minimax speakers – the source as the most vital element. It is interesting to see that view being revisited with the benefit of hindsight and distance.
Kind regards
Richard

Interesting story.
I think we in the UK were victims to a very parochial hi-fi press.
I had a similar experience, but in Japan. It was like finding a whole new ‘alternative reality’ of equipment – much of which had never been reviewed in the UK.
I think we’re all a bit older and wiser now.
I do still like Videotone Minimaxs, though!
